Despite some initial skepticism, it was evident that radio was playing an essential role in education. It wasn’t a replacement for good teachers, but it was an excellent supplement to school instruction. As Ben H. Darrow of the Ohio School of the Air advised in 1929, if used wisely, radio, television, and future technologies could serve to “energize study, motivate, and add joy to the journey.”

These examples demonstrate that radio’s impact was not limited to entertainment but extended to education as well. Today, we see this same phenomenon in marketing media presence, where brands are utilizing social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to promote their products and engage with their customers.

For instance, skincare brand Glossier’s Instagram account boasts over two million followers, and they use the platform to showcase their products, share user-generated content, and engage with their community. Similarly, fast-food giant Wendy’s has built a cult following on Twitter with its humorous and sassy tweets that engage with customers and poke fun at competitors.

In conclusion, radio was a game-changer in the early 20th century, and it continues to inspire marketing media presence strategies today. By understanding the needs and preferences of their target audience, brands can leverage social media platforms to build strong relationships with their customers and enhance their marketing efforts.
